Why should I donate to you when I could just drop clothes to charity?

The Re: Club was founded primarily because we learnt of where a huge majority of charity shop clothes end up – landfill. We are passionate about putting a stop to this!

In Australia, only ~15% of all clothing donated to Op shops gets resold, a small amount gets sent to the rag trade or overseas to developing nations, and the rest (a scarily HUGE amount) ends up going directly to landfill; which to make matters EVEN worse, the charities have to fund the disposal of. What a monumental waste of perfectly good clothing and of charity money!

There are a multitude of other ways you can support charities, but we ask you to please think twice about where you β€˜dispose of’ your unwanted clothing.

What do you do with anything no longer wearable?

Instead of sending unwearable items to landfill, we are working on a product that will close the loop and give these items another chance of life in another life-form! Our philosophy has always been Zero-wastage…so we’re excited to share more with you soon.
Plus, we reward you with access to a whole new wardrobe of beautiful clothes from trading in clothes you no longer want!

Are the clothes clean?

100% yes!

We can personally guarantee that the clothes we put on our racks and in our online shop are individually checked for stains and are 100% clean! πŸ™Œ If we even so much as catch a whiff of something we chuck it straight in the wash and give it a thorough clean.

You might notice some of them look creased. Unfortunately we don’t have time to iron them all!

Why do you charge a membership?

Technically you could do all your clothes shopping online or at our events and never have to support the fast fashion industry again! How good is that!

The membership gives you access to a whole new reloved wardrobe, allowing you to trade in any clothes you no longer wear or want and gain points to spend on new reloved items – saving clothes from going to landfill and helping to close the loop towards a more circular and sustainable economy.

And on top of all that, we give you free home collection, better purchasing rates on all the items than non-members, 24-hour priority access to new items online, and lots more!

Do you buy/consign clothes?

Instead of receiving money for the clothes you give us, we give you points in an account to spend on new items. You can expect to receive enough points to exchange for items of a similar brand and condition.

How does your points system work and how do you allocate points?

For every bag of clothes we collect, each individual item is examined, categorised and classed. We take into consideration material, brand, trend, quality and condition. We then email you to let you know how many points you have been rewarded with to spend online or at any of the pop-up shopping events.

For each particular item, you can expect to be rewarded with enough points to buy you a similar quality and β€˜class’ of item. Alternatively, you could split your points to purchase multiple lower class items. Points do not need to be spent all at once – any unspent points will simply stay in your account for the length of your membership and rollover into the following year when membership is renewed Β πŸ™‚

Is there a maximum number of clothes you accept per member?

With our standard $59 membership, you can trade in up to 150 items per year! We offer free home collection 4 times per year where we can collect up to 40 items per visit.

With our family $99 membership, you and your dependents residing in the same household can trade in up to 350 items per year – with free home collection 4 times per year where we can collect up to 90 items per visit.

If you’ve been a member for a while and aren’t sure where you’re up to with your figures – just ask!

When will the points appear on my account?

After a clothing collection you can expect the points to appear on your account and be ready to use within 3 – 21 days

Can my points be used by anyone?

Our standard $59 memberships are individual only.
Our family $99 memberships allow individuals & their immediate family (partners/children) residing in the same household to use the same membership for access to the points scheme.

If we feel a membership is being used unfairly or shared among people in multiple households, we reserve the right to terminate the membership at short notice and with no refund available.

Do you only take clothing?

We take all clothing, shoes and accessories (including bags, belts, hats, scarves, ties etc) for all sizes and ages of women, men, kids, and maternity. We just don’t take undies or socks unless brand new with the tag on!

How do I let you know I have items to swap in?

You can either email us or send us a DM on social media and we will be in contact with you.

How can I give you my clothes?

If you are a Re: Club Member:

Newcastle Area – we pick your clothes up from your door on designated collection days (within a 25km radius of Newcastle), to save you the hassle of dropping them off!

Outside of Newcastle – we have a postal courier service explained step-by-step on our ‘What We Collect’ page. We also refund all shipping fees in points onto your account – so you get a bunch more free points to spend on new reloved items!

Please ensure all items are Clean and the bags of items are clearly labelled with your name so we can make sure we allocate points into the correct account!

Please note, we do not accept clothes on shopping event days.

Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, we’re unable to accept items from non-members during this time. We’ll keep you posted when we recommence donations again – thank you!

What happens if I move away before my membership expires - can I get a refund?

We do not issue membership refunds, but you are welcome to transfer your membership to a friend.

Where can I spend my points?

Points can be spent in our online shop, unlimited! Once you’ve filled your basket, head to the checkout and a pop-up box will appear asking if you’d like to purchase with points instead of $ – it’s that easy!

Points can also be spent at any of our market days – although due to the limited space of a market stall, we have a 10 item limit per member, per market.

Can my kids come to shopping events?

The Re: Club events are more suited to an adult audience, however if you have children you can bring them along, and children under 12 will receive free entry.
